Pay Check Stubs Are Needed to File for Bankruptcy Along With Other Documents
Something has come up and you need your paycheck stubs. And you don't just
need to get a paycheck stub, you need to get several paycheck stubs. Maybe you are
applying for a loan. Maybe you are declaring bankruptcy. Maybe you are going through a divorce. Maybe you need to apply for
assistance from the government. But in spite of your need, you have found that you haven't
kept paycheck stubs. After all, why keep them? The check is the important part, right? Or maybe you
have some, but not all of your paycheck stubs. So what shall you do to get yourself out of this
dilemma?
The first and best thing to do is to contact your employer. Even if they can't give you a week by
week statement, they will be able to give you year-to-date information and that may be enough.
Try to gather as many past paycheck stubs as you can, even if some are missing, that is better than
nothing.
In some cases, your last year's taxes will suffice. Be sure to ask.
In the future, file away your paycheck stubs. It doesn't have to be something fancy, just
put them in a folder marked paycheck stubs and the year. Keep them in a box in your closet and
save at least a couple of years worth. After a couple of years, you can destroy them.
